Trump’s Path to Peace: Cut Off Ukraine Now

It’s time to cut ties with Ukraine. Let’s end the funding and tell Ukraine they’re on their own. It’s clear that Zelensky doesn’t really want to sign a peace deal with Russia, and there’s no real incentive for Russia to agree to one either, as they’re winning the war. So Trump should just get the U.S. out of it and pull all the funding.
Trump has publicly stated he wants a peace deal to end the war. Unfortunately, there are people within his administration who don’t seem to feel the same way—such as Marco Rubio, Mike Waltz, and General Kellogg. Trump should not have picked these people for his national security team, but what’s done is done. The reality is that both Russia and Ukraine don’t seem interested in a peace deal for various reasons. So Trump should just pull the funding.
Trump ran on the promise of ending the war in a day. Obviously, that hasn’t happened. Most people probably didn’t take that literally, but the point was clear: ending the war would be a top priority for his administration once inaugurated. Trump himself has publicly pressured both sides to reach a deal, but with people in his own administration seemingly undermining him, with Zelensky being resistant, and with Russia having no incentive to negotiate, Trump needs to act—by ending the funding.
If you pull the funding, Ukraine loses the war quickly—and the war ends. Even if you’re on Ukraine’s side, a quick end to the war is what’s best for them at this point. Ukraine isn’t going to regain the territory currently controlled by Russia, and ending the war quickly would save more Ukrainian lives.
Trump is seen as a different kind of Republican by many voters who soured on the party after George W. Bush, largely because of his anti-war rhetoric. He needs to back that up more strongly than he did during his first administration. Trump’s approval rating has dipped in many media polls, and while most of that is likely due to the media and market reaction to tariffs, it’s also possible that part of the reason is his failure to end all the wars he promised to stop
So it’s time to end the funding, Mr. President. You promised to end the war quickly—it’s time to follow through on that promise.
