The Myth of Trump Voter Regret

The Myth of Trump Voter Regret

There’s been a lot of talk from left-wing commentators that Trump supporters “regret” their vote for Trump this past election. But a new poll from the left-leaning YouGov proves otherwise.

Only 2% of Trump voters would change their vote if they had the opportunity, according to YouGov. That’s a very small number. In the same poll, 97% of Trump voters said they would not change their vote.

While Trump voters don’t seem to regret voting for Trump, it is true that in several accurate polls, Trump’s overall approval has dipped since Inauguration Day. That’s normal for an administration. However, it would likely behoove the administration to secure some trade deals with other countries, as the tariffs seem to be the reason for the dip in Trump’s approval.

Regardless, Trump ran on implementing tariffs in all three of his presidential campaigns, so supporters shouldn’t be—and frankly, aren’t—surprised by the tariff policy. It’s something he has advocated for since the 1980s, so the vast majority of supporters understand why Trump feels the need to implement them. However, we do need to see results, or his approval will probably continue to dip.
