REPORT : Kamala Harris Was ‘Shocked’ By Election Night Loss, Considered Recount

Kamala Harris was in shock on election night when it became clear she had lost the 2024 election.
According to the authors of the new book FIGHT: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House, Harris even suggested exploring a recount.
“She’s like, ‘Are you sure? Have we done a recount? Should we do a recount?’” said The Hill correspondent Amie Parnes, co-author of FIGHT, on the podcast Somebody’s Gotta Win with Tara Palmeri.
“They thought they were going to win,” Parnes added. “And so, when they come back now and say, ‘Oh no, we didn’t really have a chance’—no, that’s not what they were thinking. They thought they were going to win.”
The book reportedly notes that some campaign officials felt they were being gaslit by senior staff, who publicly claimed the data looked favorable—even though internal numbers consistently showed them behind.
According to Parnes, Harris simply bought into the hype.
“Kamala Harris was looking at her crowd size, and they felt like the vibe was strong and people were saying, ‘Oh, we have more boots on the ground. We’re doing better in fundraising,’” Parnes added. “And she bought all of that. She bought the hype, and so did a lot of people in the campaign.”
Harris has since apparently told her close friends that if she had been given more time, she could of won the election.
“She could have won, she told friends, if only the election was later in the calendar — or she got in earlier. In other words, Joe Biden was to blame,” Parnes and co-author Jonathan Allen claim in their new book according to Fox News.
Whether or that true is up for debate, but what’s not up for debate is how deluded the campaign was. You shouldn’t be “shocked” you lost if your campaign data had you losing the whole election.
