New Poll: J.D. Vance The Republican Frontrunner in 2028

According to the latest poll from Echelon Insights, J.D. Vance is by far the favorite to win the Republican nomination in 2028. His lead is nearly 40 points, commanding close to a majority with 47% of the vote. Governor Ron DeSantis comes in a distant second with just 9%.

J.D. Vance is clearly the heir apparent to Donald Trump. In some ways, he’s even more populist than Trump, but with the added ability to put a layer of intellectualism behind Trumpism—something Trump himself often struggles to do.

The 2028 nominee will be crucial because Trump voters have a history of not always showing up to vote when Trump isn’t on the ballot. Having Trump’s vice president as the nominee should help incentivize many of those voters to actually turn out.

When Trump first ran in 2016, J.D. Vance was a critic—at one point even comparing Trump to Hitler. But once Trump began governing, Vance changed his mind. He saw that Trump genuinely intended to keep his populist promises and help the kinds of communities Vance himself came from.

While there’s been talk from people like Steve Bannon about Trump running for a third term, that’s simply not going to happen. The 22nd Amendment is very clear—Trump is term-limited.

It should be J.D. Vance in 2028. Frankly, he may be the only Republican who can win that election.
