Maher Backs RFK Jr.’s Claim on Environmental Toxins and Autism

Last night on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, Maher defended RFK Jr.’s belief that environmental toxins may have contributed to the rising rates of autism.

“I happen to believe that is probably a more likely answer,” Maher said, responding to criticism RFK Jr. has received for suggesting toxins could be a factor in the increasing number of autism diagnoses. “Environmental toxins are really the story of my lifetime.”

Bill Maher is a known skeptic of the medical establishment and has supported RFK Jr. on other medical issues. However, he has also criticized him for going too far on certain topics, such as vaccine skepticism.

HHS Secretary RFK Jr. announced during a recent Trump cabinet meeting that we will know what has caused the uptick in autism in the U.S. by September.

”We will know by September what caused the massive autism epidemic in the U.S., and we will be able to eliminate those exposures,” the Secretary of HHS told the President. “The autism rate—the most recent numbers we think are about 1 in 31—is up from 1 in 10,000 when I was a kid. We’ve launched a massive research effort that’s going to involve hundreds of scientists from around the world, and we’ll be able to eliminate those exposures.”
