LET TRUMP COOK: China’s Tariff Bluff Gets Checked

Today on Truth Social, President Trump issued a firm and fiery response to China’s newly announced 34% retaliatory tariffs on American goods—tariffs that come on top of what he called Beijing’s “record-setting” economic abuses.
Suffice it to say: the President isn’t buying China’s bluff.
In his statement on Truth Social, Trump made it clear that any retaliation against the U.S.’s new reciprocal tariff policy would be met with “new and substantially higher tariffs.”
“Yesterday, China issued retaliatory tariffs of 34%, on top of their already record-setting tariffs, non-monetary tariffs, illegal subsidization of companies, and massive long-term currency manipulation,” the President wrote. “Despite my warning that any country that retaliates against the U.S. by issuing additional tariffs—above and beyond their already existing long-term tariff abuse of our Nation—will be immediately met with new and substantially higher tariffs, over and above those initially set. Therefore, if China does not withdraw its 34% increase, in addition to their long-term trading abuses, by tomorrow, April 8th, 2025, the United States will impose ADDITIONAL tariffs on China of 50%, effective April 9th.”

The President went on to say that if the tariffs are not removed by tomorrow, all talks or potential meetings to discuss the situation will be canceled.
Trump is clearly calling China’s bluff. The reality is, the U.S. can withstand a trade war in a way other countries—including China—simply can’t.
