Gen Z Poll: Younger Zoomers Now Leaning Right

In a new Youth Poll from Yale, the Generic Ballot for voters was asked, for 2026. Here are the Results.

All Voters - D+1.6🔵
22-29 - D+6.4 🔵
18-21 - R+11.7 đź”´

A huge 18 point difference between 22 & above vs 21 & below. What explains this disconnect?

At The Right-Wing Populist, we believe COVID is a major explanation for why Zoomers aged 21 and under tend to be much more conservative than those aged 22 and above. For one, many Zoomers in the younger group never had a proper high school graduation—or even a full high school experience at all—due to COVID. Sports and other extracurricular activities were canceled, and many young people disagreed with these restrictions, especially since COVID posed little threat to them personally.

Additionally, the online culture has shifted. Most popular online spaces and podcasts today lean anti-establishment. Since the right, largely due to Donald Trump, is now more associated with anti-establishment sentiment, that likely plays a major role in the generational divide among Zoomers.
