Bill Maher Still Doesn’t Understand Trump Voters

Bill Maher on his HBO show Friday claimed—without evidence—that Trump supporters regret voting for Trump.

“I think for liberals, it’s worse than they even thought when they projected out,”

Maher stated during the panel discussion.

“Let’s talk about what it is for the other side, for the MAGA people, because I think they’re disappointed, even though they may not say it out loud,” Maher later said. “I think they thought when they were voting for Trump that, ‘Okay, you know, job losses over the last many decades, and wage stagnation, and the system is just corrupt and broken. So it just needs drastic change. Just break everything. F— the judges, f— the democracy, f— the trading partners. We have nothing to lose.’ And now they found out, oh, actually, they had plenty to lose.”

We at The Right-Wing Populist certainly don’t regret supporting Trump, and we don’t think there’s any evidence of a massive increase in Trump supporters abandoning him.

Trump has kept his promise to try to negotiate an end into the Ukraine war, kept his promised implement tariffs to help workers, he’s dramatically reduced border crossings and illegal immigration. It’s not clear exactly why Trump supporters would regret voting for him now.

It is true that certain approval rating polls show Trump’s numbers dipping by relatively decent margins in some cases, but The Right-Wing Populist questions this.

Many of these polls have not demonstrated the ability to gauge Trump’s numbers accurately in the past, and we’re skeptical that they are doing so now.

Regardless, Bill Maher—while not as bad as many other liberals—still suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome, and is clearly just projecting his own views onto Trump supporters, whom he will never truly understand no matter how much he tries or claims he does.
