April 5th Anti-Trump Protests Prove The Resistance Is Dead

On April 5th, 2025, several anti-Trump protests took place across the country. You probably didn’t noticed. And that’s the point. No one cared.
These protests were organized by several progressive organizations such as MoveOn and Indivisible. The protests were called “Hands Off” because of the perception that Trump and Elon Musk are gutting government jobs and social benefits like Social Security. The problem is, no one cares.
It’s clear the number of actual protesters was far smaller than the anti-Trump protests in 2017. The 2017 protests were a cultural phenomenon that received massive media coverage. The protests organized today went largely unnoticed, with only extremely liberal seniors excited to participate in them.
Also, the claim many of these protesters are spreading—that the Trump administration is only looking out for the wealthy—is completely debunked by Trump’s tariff policy. Wall Street and the elite hate the tariffs, as they benefit the most from globalization. It’s working-class, blue-collar Americans who benefit the most from the new tariff policy.
The bottom line is these anti-Trump protest today felt more like a nostalgia tour than an actual movement. The energy just isn’t there anymore. While some Americans many have there reservations of some of the Administrations priorities, ultimately the administration is governing how they campaigned they would govern. And the public will give the administration the benefit of the doubt. For now.
